      1. Wow!! I took up making origami cranes during Covid lockdown, but they weren’t that pretty and I definitely did not make a thousand!

      2. I became obsessed with them. I had the time, my son spent nine months in hospital and I sat by his bed folding cranes every day. I wrote a wish for him on everyone, then when we finally got home I sewed them all together.
There is a Japanese tradition that if you fold a thousand cranes your wish is granted. I was inspired by my friend Shimpei who was folding cranes for my son and leaving them at temples and springs.
        It’s very therapeutic isn’t folding them. 💚

      3. What a great story, Juliet! I cannot imagine your fortitude — my hub was in the hospital for a month and that felt like an eternity (I lived with him in a skilled nursing facility in a different city, so I couldn’t go home, which contributed to the feeling). Nine months is a LONG hospital stay. I’m so glad you both got home! ❤️

And yes, I found folding the cranes meditative, very calming.
